Soren Nicolajsen started training in 1985. A friend wanted to try karate and Soren just went along as support not really that interested, but soon realised that this was just for him.
He trained 1 year before his first kyu grading in 1986. As a 1st kyu he went to work in the UK in 1992 and joined a KUGB club in Wellingborough and he passed his Shodan under the late Enoeda Sensei in Slough in 1993.
Back in Denmark in 1993 he joined his old club and passed his Nidan under Tanaka Sensei and Bura Sensei in 1996.
After passing his Nidan in 1996 Soren went on to live and work in various countries and trained whenever and wherever it was possible. In 2008 Soren returned to the UK where he continued to train with different Shotokan clubs but at a course in December 2011 he met Sensei Tom Peebles and asked if he could join them and so he did in January 2012 and has been there since. In 2013 Soren passed his level 3 Instructor and Referee’s exam. In 2014 he passed his Sandan under Sensei Ohta, Sensei Larsson and Sensei Roy Tomlin.
Soren is getting more involved in assisting on the teaching side at Stevenage.
